No Parking? - Pubspeak 13 May 2005

DOUBLE yellow lines are a young band who practice at the 'Welfare', Nostell Community Centre. We had been asked to go and see the band on Saturady night. The place was veru busy when they took to the stage around 9.45pm and they were received with great applause with every song they sang. The dance floor was crowded with their fans. Look out for this young band - who I think of everyday when I am delivering in towns and cities. You see them everywhere, double yellow lines!

Watch out for the lines - Pubspeak

There wasn't a traffic warden in sight on Friday when I called in at Crofton Community centre, formerly known as the 'welfare'. It was a disco night with a band providing the live entertainment. Darren Stevens had called to ask me to have a look at a new band he is managing, The Double Yellow Lines. It compromises five eager youngsters: Chad on Drums, Danny on bass guitar, Steve on Lead Guitar, Ross on Keyboards and guitar and Matty the lead vocalist. Each of the lads are pretty good on their instruments and work well

together. While I was there they played Wonderwall, You Really Got Me and Tin Soldier. They describe themselves as a mod band and have a vespa scooter on stage with them as a symbol! What I saw was a very keen bunch of lads who are eager to succeed at the present rate of work there is no doubt that they will. Watch this space!

Wakefield Express - Talking 'bout another generation 4th March 2005

Sounds of The Kinks, The Who and The Jam can be heard over Crofton as a school band live their passion for the Mod style of music and fashion. Double Yellow Lines are a group of teenagers, all aged 15 or 16, from Crofton High School, who perform for their peers and for charity. Heavily influenced by the mod culture of the 1960's, due to drummer Chad Stevens' dad Darren, they are next competing in a Comic Relief Battle of the Bands at their school on March 11. Mr Stevens, band manager, said I am into all that kind of music because of my love for scooters and Chad came with me on scooter rallies for many years, which is how he got into it. The bands set includes You Really Got Me And Town Called Malice and Wonderwall.

Mod-fied Music for Prom

A school mod band has played its most challenging gig - performing to friends at the crofton school leavers' prom. Double yellow Lines were booked to perform their own year 11 prom last thursday at Cedar Court. And with a set list including tunes by the likes of the kinks, the Who, the Jam, Oasis and Ocean Colour Scene, there was enough variety to cater for teachers and pupils alike. Band manager Darren Stevens said: "It went really well. It was their own school leavers do,so they were performing for their own peers." "The kids seem to really enjoy the Oasis amd Ocean Colour Scene songs, and teachers really got into it aswell, especially when they did anything by the Jam or Deep Purple!"The boys arrived at the prom in style. While their classmates pulled up in black and white limos, Double Yellow Lines stuck to what they know - arriving in an army of scooters - and were greeted with cheers and applause from their audience. The band consist of Matty Capstick, Stepehn Brown, Ross Moore, Danny Bradley and Chad Stevens. They were formed in 2003 with a heavy influence of mod, due to Chad's father Darren, who is also the bands manager. His love of scooters and all things mod-ified was past on to drummer chad, and his band mates share his passion. Double Yellow Lines have their next gig at Crofton gala on Saturday, June 25. It will be the bands first performance in open air. Mr Stevens said the band has been practising outside to get a "real feel for it." He said: "They are definately getting better, and its easy to see that their confidence is growing. To be honest, I dont think they are too far off recording level!"
